How we research, check and update every page

The standards behind PatientFiPayment.com: where our facts come from, how we calculate numbers, how we stay independent and how to ask for a correction.

Effective October 11, 2026

Our source ladder Three tiers of sources. Top: the company's own disclosures, terms and help center. Middle: regulators and government, such as the CFPB. Bottom: reputable reporting and analysis, used for context only. 1 · The company itself disclosures · terms · help center 2 · Regulators CFPB reports and rules 3 · Reputable reporting context only, never a rate or fee
Our source ladder: we use the highest rung available.

1Where our facts come from

We follow the ladder above. For anything about how PatientFi works, including rates, promo terms, fees, payment methods and support hours, we use PatientFi’s own disclosures, “How it works” pages and help center. For CareCredit and Cherry, we use those companies’ own pages.

When the only source for a claim is a company’s marketing, we attribute it in the sentence: “Cherry says…” or “per Cherry.” We use consumer research, such as the CFPB’s 2023 report on medical credit cards and financing, for context and statistics, and say who published it.

Every page ends with a numbered list of the sources it used, with links.

2How we calculate numbers

Fixed-rate payments use the standard amortization formula: M = P × r ÷ (1 − (1 + r)−n), where P is the amount, r the monthly rate and n the number of months. Promo payments needed to finish at 0% are the balance divided by the promo months.

Where a company publishes its own example, such as PatientFi’s $6,000 disclosure schedules or CareCredit’s fixed payment factor, we use its figures and say so. We label anything illustrative, such as the example patients on our promo page.

3Our fact-check process

  1. Findthe primary source for each fact
  2. Writeit in plain English, attributed
  3. Recalculateevery number in code
  4. Checkeach sentence against its source
  5. Datethe page with its fact-check date

We re-check pages when a company changes its terms and at least every few months. The “Fact-checked” date at the top of each page is when that page was last checked in full.

4Independence

PatientFiPayment.com is not affiliated with PatientFi, Inc., its lending partners, CareCredit, Synchrony or Cherry. No company pays for coverage, reviews our pages before publication or decides what we say. Our Apply page includes a clearly labeled personal loan request form from a third-party lending network, and we may be paid when someone submits it. That form is kept separate from our guides, and it never changes how we describe PatientFi, other lenders or their costs.

5Tools we use

We use software, including AI writing and coding tools, to help draft pages, build calculators and run calculations. Those tools don’t decide what’s true: every fact is checked against the linked source before it’s published, and every number is recalculated.

6Corrections

If you find an error, email [email protected] with the page and what looks wrong, and a link to a source if you have one. When we confirm an error, we fix it, update the page’s fact-check date and, for a meaningful change, note what changed.

Please don’t send account numbers, passcodes or personal financial details. We can’t access PatientFi accounts.

7What we don’t do

  • Give personal financial, legal or medical advice
  • Recommend a specific loan for your situation
  • Take PatientFi applications, logins or payments
  • Publish reviews or testimonials we can’t verify

Your loan agreement and the offer you’re shown are always the final word on your terms.
